Fellowships

Two awards have been established by RAICo to help widen academic engagement, offering fellowships to UK-based researchers supporting women in robotics and early career researchers.

RAICo Fellows

RAICo Fellows is an Innovation Awards scheme programme created by the Size Reduction team to recognise women in robotics and early career researchers across the UK in the field of nuclear robotics. Successful applicants will receive a grant of up to £20,000 and a bespoke package of mentoring, coaching and business support over a 12-month period. There is a requirement of spending at least one month at the RAICo1 facility in Whitehaven, Cumbria. The grant can be used to support travel and consumables. Up to five RAICo Fellows will be appointed and successful candidates will have access to innovative technologies that offer the potential to address on site challenges at Sellafield, Culham (UKAEA), or elsewhere across the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority estate.

RAICo Fellows will have links to challenge owners at Sellafield, Dounreay and elsewhere across the NDA estate, and will provide support with establishing a business and commercialising nuclear robotics technology.

RAICo Junior Fellows

RAICo Junior Fellows is a programme offering Innovation Awards to PhD students in the broad field of nuclear robotics. Successful applicants will receive a grant of up to £5,000 and a bespoke package of mentoring, coaching and business support over a six-month period. There is a requirement of spending at least one month at the RAICo1 facility in Cumbria.
